I love Korean dramas! A friend who had lived in South Korea suggested, several times, I give one a try but it wasn’t until I became curious about how Siwon, from Super Junior, could act that I actually turned one on, and boy, could he act! It was Oh, My Lady and I loved it! I’ve pretty much come to the conclusion that you either love Kdramas or you don’t. I’ll admit, I’m addicted to them. I’ve seen over 400 (several of them more than once) and that’s not counting Korean feature films.
Kdramas are a pretty big time commitment, usually being 16 or 20 episodes/hours long. I’ve seen some that are significantly shorter and one that I dedicated 55 hours of my life to. Not all of the dramas I’ve seen are, what I would call “good”. There have been several that I thought were awful – the 55 hour one comes to mind. Yet most of them, I can honestly say, I’m glad I saw. Kdramas are known for being pretty outlandish and downright ridiculous at times. There’s one I saw where the same guy got amnesia twice! But as silly as it sounds, I loved the show! Check out this YouTube link. It’s hysterical because everything the guy says about Kdramas is true.
Unfortunately, in my life I’m all alone in my love for Korean dramas. I have been able to rope a friend into seeing a few but that’s it. No one I know watches them which means I have absolutely nobody to talk to about them. That’s where YOU come in. I decided that with as many Kdramas as I’ve seen I could at least give people advice on what to watch and what to stay away from. So these are my reviews. Please note, I’m not a professional Korean drama reviewer. Everything I’ll be writing is strictly my opinion. If a review says I didn’t like the drama it doesn’t mean it’s a bad drama, it just means I didn’t like it. I am, in no way, trying to insult anyone – not the viewers, actors, soundtrack composers, editors, directors, writers… In fact, if anything I write offends you please accept my apology in advance. That is definitely not my intention with this website.
I plan on updating this website a couple times a month to add more reviews. You may also want to revisit some pages to see if things have changed, like my top 20 favorite Kdramas list and my favorite actors and actresses lists. Also, please remember the information I put on a review may change after it’s been posted. If you read something I’ve written and think, “That’s not right'” you may be correct. I’m not infallible. Also, life changes and so do the facts. What was correct at the time I wrote something might not be correct three months later.
I hope you’ll find reading my reviews helpful in choosing dramas worthy of your time. If there’s a specific Kdrama you’d like me to review just let me know, or if you’d like to ask me a question or leave a comment, please feel free to do so. I’d love to hear from you!
